ぷよぷよ フィーバー(Puyo Puyo Fever) Style of Myself!

As I'm a big fan of Puyo Puyo video game series, I always wanted to try out the Puyo Puyo Fever art style, and I decided to put myself to draw with :P, It sure looks simple but the line stroke thickness is one time consuming... But it was nice to try it out! I'm using this picture for my profile at Puyo Nexus! (A Number one Puyo Puyo fan website as almost good as the official)

Who Are You – 9‐second Video: PATRIX

This project aims to create a form of design which expresses and promotes myself in a 9‐second‐long motion graphical media. The main idea of my project is to dress up into myself from a blank person who has nothing, standing against a box named ‘PATRIX’, which is a parody of ‘Patrick’s’. As the blank person opens the box, all elements of myself jump out from the box and turn the blank person into me, therefore emphasizing who I am.

The Great Escape

2008 AUT Bachelor of Graphic Design Exhibition: The Great Escape by Patrick Yu

The project is about escapism in the video game culture. Video game enthusiasts believe that the virtual world has become far more realistic than the world they exist in. So much so, that the players choose to isolate themselves from society and would rather live sitting in front of a bright screen that allows them to be part of a vibrant virtual space. But what if it was because they never felt that they belonged to the real world? The story begins with a boy called ‘Steve’, who desires to escape from the real world when he meets his virtual companion. Now is the time for him to really explore the world of fantasy that he always wanted to experience, but this time without electronic boundaries.

Concept art for ? - Stage Five

Please click the image to see with a better view.
Nearly getting there! I've shown this picture to a few and many said that the characters are dieing, I guess I need to put some more characters in order to make everything a slightly busier. Plus, it is a concept art after all, the purpose of this picture is more focusing on the overall perspective. But yes, any advices are something to take in with! (Thanks to Jason Hong, got a lot of great advices for myself to improve!)

I must say, the background is just some work! This is taking more time than I thought it would be... Keep Trying!

Concept art - Stage Three

Please click the image to see with a better view (it's very big...)
Hmm...

Close up view of the stage two, I just took a screen shot. I must admit that I still a long way to apply realistic techniques but won't give up!

Concept art for ? - Coloring Stage One

I own two books which are written by Suk Jung-Hyun, a great illustrator from Korea. One of the books contains the tutorial information on Painter IX. I've read over and over and trying to research about the style of his drawings. Now here I am doing my own one.

Concept art for ? - Sketch

Okay, this is the biggest drawing I'd ever try so far, I hope this will turn out successful although remember to be critical to myself! This is a concept art for ?. Still working on little bits and pieces but kinda wanted to have an overall theme in my mind to work way through.

The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Future(?)

Ooouh, my favorite video game: The Legend of Zelda, but this time it is my fan-art!! I always wondered how Link will look when he is very old. I didn't want to make him look so hopeless I guess, haha just keeping his shape and confidence! I couldn't draw Zelda old... I just couldn't... I mean I don't think they get older at all haha, but who knows... No Zelda title like this to be released yet.

The little witch and her puffy warroir - Fin

Alright, I'm trying to be critical to myself... *mumbles about my the bits that need to be improved!!*

The little witch and her puffy warrior - Mid Stage

This could be the stage 2 of the drawing; the hair of the worrior was challenging...

The little witch and her puffy warrior - Stage One

Bypassing the sketching stage, here is the first stage of my coloring part. I always found it's very tricky when it comes to coloring, especially with a background. One of my inspiration told me that I should really try glazing before doing full-color version. That'd be my next goal!

The Victory

Well, I guess their last call turned out to be successful indeed! This time, as for their victory, I drew them in more cartoony style. The end of the invation story haha..
